=>Check the tips and tricks entries found under Super Mario Bros.. SMB For
Super Players tips can be found under Super Mario All*Stars as SMB Lost
Levels tips.
=>Hidden Lives: In the NES SMB, there were some hidden 1ups in each x-1 world
that were only available if you warped. Here, however, they are always
available.
=>Play as Luigi: On the map screen, press SELECT to switch between Mario and
Luigi. Unlike the SNES "Lost Levels," however, the two seem identical in
this game.
=>Camera Control: During the game, press SELECT to change the camera view
from the center of the screen to the edge, much like in Super Mario World.
Hold U or D to move the screen up and down a bit.
=>SMB2 Game: Score 300,000 points in the normal game and Luigi will appear on
the game selection screen. Click on him to play SMB for Super Players,
a.k.a. "The Lost Levels." An easy way to earn the points is to use the
SMB 1 extra lives hopping trick, but to stop bouncing as soon as the extra
lives begin to rack up, then hop back on.
=>Versus Boo: Score 100,000 points in the normal game and a Boo ghost will
appear on the selection screen. Click on him to race the Boo in various
levels of the game.
* Every time you beat him in a stage, he changes color (white to blue-green
to red to black) and speeds up. He might be racing you at your previous
best time.
* On the stage select screen, press SELECT to cycle between regular, super,
and fiery forms of Mario. Also, if you used Luigi the last time you
played SMB or SMB for Super Players, you will use Luigi in the race.
=>Yoshi Challenge: Once you find a Yoshi egg in the Challenge Mode and beat
the level with it, the Yoshi option will appear in the Toy Box. Use it to
get a Yoshi egg location clue for a random level.
=>Secret Room: This appears in the Toy Box screen once you've beaten a castle
and saved a Mushroom retainer. Rescue all 8 and the Princess to get
additional photos, banners (that let you put in your own messages and music)
and other tiny options. You don't have to play every level in the game to
get them; just the _-4 castle levels.
* Logo: Choose the start up logo screen from the various available at
the Princess. Press B to return to the table screen. When you next turn
the system on, your chosen screen will appear instead of "Since 1985."
* Music: The Princess and some of the Toads let you add text to pictures;
anywhere you can add text, you can add music as well. To add music, enter
a musical note symbol and then the note letter afterwards. Refer to this
key. Press START when viewing the picture to play the music.
4 = quarter note (no tail) 8 = eighth note (1 tail)
16=sixteenth note (two tails) . = a rest
^ = up arrow symbol v = down arrow symbol (change octaves)
Here's the default music for...
* Princess: 8 G F# G 4 E . F F# G . C^ E^ D^ E^ F^ B D^ . C^
* Right Toad: 8 C^ D^ C^ D^ C^ 16 . C A# A 8 G F 16 Fv Fv . Fv Fv . 4 Fv F^
=>Start With 10 Lives: Enter the fortune telling game in the Toy Box. Play
until you have an "Extremely Lucky" day. Start a standard SMB or SMB:FSP
game and you will begin with 10 lives.
=>Extra Lives: If you grab an extra life in a level, you can pause, save the
game, then choose "End". Reload your saved game and you will be at the
beginning of the same level, but with the life you just grabbed. If you
do this for a very long time, you can store up lots of lives. It really
isn't worth it, as you have unlimited continues.
=>Challenge Mode Tip: In all the coin heaven sections, where you ride a cloud
and try to grab coins as you pass by, you can get a 10,000 point bonus if
you nab every coin.
=>Differences from SMB/SMBLL: Worlds 9, A, B, C, and D in SMB Lost Levels/For
Super Players appear to be gone. Mario and Luigi are identical to control.
=>Pictures: Here's what you need to do to get the pictures...
* Page 1: Beat SMB quests 1 and 2 for the Mario and Bowser awards. Complete
all challenges (red coins, eggs, and high score) in Challenge Mode for
the Peach award. Beat SMB:FSP for the Yoshi award. Fill the total score
bar of the Challenge Mode for the Toad award.
* Page 2: Get fireworks when jumping onto a flagpole, find a green 1UP
Mushroom, climb a hidden vine, play Versus Mode w/ another GBC, beat the
original Super Mario Bros., trade scores with another GBC using the
infrared port, find all the red coins in the Challenge mode for the Red
Coin award, beat all Challenge Mode scores for the Score award, and find
all the Challenge Mode Yoshi eggs for the Yoshi Egg Award.
* Page 3: Earn a photo of each enemy when you kill them for the first time.
* Page 4: Earn one quadrant of the picture for killing each Bowser in worlds
1 to 4 using fireballs.
* Page 5: Earn one quadrant for killing each Bowser in worlds 5-8 using
fireballs.
->Erasing Data: On the game select screen, press START and Copy/Clear will
appear, allowing you to copy or erase a saved game. However, if you hold
SELECT and press A, you can erase all the saved data on the cartridge; this
includes all the extra room data.
