To easily earn extra lives at the beginning of the game, start the game and hop around at the beginning until you find the 20 shot gun. Now, walk right until you reach a waterfall, then continue right until you spot the second ladder. Climb down that ladder two floors, stopping at the floor containing a stack of gold bars. On this floor, a frog will appear just a bit to the right of the ladder. Move right, shoot the frog, then walk back left towards the ladder / dead end. Return to the right to shoot the frog again. Repeat this process to accumulate extra lives.
