->Erase All Data: Hold A+B+[START]+[SELECT]+[L]+[R] while turning on the
system. You'll get a prompt, asking if you'd like to erase the saved data.
=>Change Graphics: Once you find all 96 goals, the graphics of the game will
change. In the original SNES version, you had to complete the Extra world.
=>Princess Coins: After you find all 5 Yoshi coins in every level of the game,
a small cinema scene will play and all the Yoshi coins will become Princess
coins.
=>Original SMB Music: On the Special levels map, wait until the background
music changes to the original Super Mario Bros. theme.
=>New Intro: After you save the Princess, the intro scene to the game will
change. The Princess will not be kidnapped, but will be riding Yoshi.
=>Luigi: At any time on the map, press [R] to switch between Mario and Luigi.
=>Replay Fortresses/Castles: Once you beat Bowser, you will be able to replay
any fortress or castle.
=>Top Secret Area: Get the cape and go into the first Ghost House in Donut
Plains. Run left and fly straight up the left side of the screen. Land on
the platform and run to the right. Finish the level and a top secret area
will appear above the Ghost House.
=>Mario Bros. Link Note: To play the original Mario Bros. cooperative mode,
you normally need a copy of the same cartridge for each system that is
linked together. However, both Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 and
Super Mario Advance (SMB2) contain the same original Mario Bros. game. This
means that you can link up SMW to SMA to play the cooperative Mario Bros.
game.
=>Colored Yoshis: Once you feed a baby Yoshi and it grows up, that color
Yoshi will start appearing in the various Yoshi blocks throughout the game.
Once you unlock the Yellow, Red, and Blue Yoshis, they will appear
according to Mario's current status.
Mario - Random Yoshi Caped Mario - Blue Yoshi
Super Mario - Yellow Yoshi Fiery Mario - Red Yoshi
=>Berries: When Yoshi eats Berries, things happen. Eat 10 red berries for
a powerup (Green Yoshi provides a Mushroom, Blue a Feather, Red a Fire
Flower, and Yellow a Starman). 2 pink berries yield a cloud that throws
out coins. A Green Berry adds 20 seconds to the clock.
=>Flying Spin: Hold B to run, but press [R] instead of A to fly. You will
whirl through the air in a rapid spin attack! If you continue to hold these
buttons as you land, you can immediately release [R] and then press it
again; you will instantly begin another flying spin attack! You can keep
this up until you lose speed in your run by running into a pipe, etc., but
this trick can help you fly through entire levels in a matter of seconds.
->Magic Number 1-Up: When you jump up and break the tape on the goal post at
the end of a level, if the last two digits of the timer are the same, and
the 10's digit of the goal post stars earned is the same as the two last
digits of the timer, you get an extra life. Example: break the tape for 14
stars with 211 seconds remaining for an extra life, or 5 stars with 100
seconds remaining.
=>Climb & Carry: With an item in your hands, stand alongside the vine you
want to climb, as if you were about to scale it. Hold U and release B to
toss the thing high into the air, then quickly climb the vine while holding
B. When you run into the item as it falls, you should automatically catch
and carry it as you continue climbing the vine.
=>Shell Shock: Stand one block away from a block and kick a shell at it. The
shell will bounce back and go right through you without causing you any
harm.
=>Yoshi Slide: You can slide uphill while riding Yoshi; just face a slope and
press D+L or D+R (depending on where the slope is) to slide up it!
=>Yoshi Evade: While riding Yoshi, you can avoid some attacks. If you see a
giant Banzai Bill bullet flying one block above the ground, stand in its
path and it will fly right through you!
=>Ultimate Life and Point Trick: Enter Forest of Illusion 1 and make your
way to the midway point. Make sure you are wearing the cape. Proceed to the
log pathway with Koopas and Wiggler caterpillars above the keyhole.
Completely destroy the Koopas (I suggest smashing them with spin jumps),
then...
Hop on top of a yellow Wiggler. Bounce high in the air and float down,
bouncing on top of another yellow Wiggler. Bounce high and float down,
bouncing on the last yellow Wiggler. Now, float back to the first Wiggler.
He will be yellow again; bounce and float from 1 to 2 to 3, then repeat.
After several hops, you will earn extra lives... and then strange symbols
will replace the 1up symbols. Soon each hop will yield tons of points,
coins, and lives. You will easily max out your coin, point, and lives.
If you touch the ground, however, you start the jump counter back at 0.
A red Wiggler must wander off the screen to turn back to a yellow one. If
all the Wigglers are red, just move to either the leftmost or rightmost one
and bounce on top of it while the other two wander offscreen, then bounce
back to them.
=>Another Neat Life Method: In Vanilla Secret 2, work your way to the
Mid-Point tape (for optimum lives, you may wish to use [START] [SELECT] to
exit this level, then return with more time at the mid-point). Continue
right, past the pipe, Note Blocks, Para-Bombs, etc. Hop past the chasm and
? block and continue towards the pit filled with Spinies. The second block
in the row above the pit contains a P-Switch. Release the P-Switch and
carry it all the way back to the Mid-Point and drop it to the right of the
silver-grey pipe. Stomp the P-Switch and the RUN to the left, hopping onto
the field above. Continue RUNNING all the way to the beginning of the
field, grabbing the grey coins as you go. By the time the music ends, you
should have earned about 50 lives
=>Top Secret Area: Get the cape and go into the first Ghost House in Donut
Plains. Run left and fly straight up the left side of the screen. Land on
the platform and run to the right. Finish the level and a top secret area
will appear above the Ghost House.
=>Final Goalpost Bonus: When carrying an object through the final goalpost, it
will transform into an power-up. Some objects always turn into the same
items (Yoshi Babies and Keys = 1-Ups, P-Balloons give Feathers), but
P-Switches and Shells give different power-ups depending on Mario's status:
