MIDWAY'S ARCADE TREASURES (gc)

checked-part ->Defender: Extra lives and smart bombs are normally awarded for every 10,000 points you score. However, if you manage to score 990,000 points, you will earn one life for every kill you make between 990,000 and 1,000,000 points. . Invisible Boundaries: There is an invisible line on the map which mutants will never pass over. This invisible line is a bit to the left of the large background mountain. If you are on one side of this line, a mutant on the other side will go ALL the way around the other side of the planet to get you, instead of just flying over the line. Swarmers also have an invisible line that they can not cross. It is in roughly the same area that you start each zone. ->Defender II: If you are carrying four humanoids and fly into the stargate, you'll warp ahead four zones and receive a large point bonus. On the default Options settings you won't be able to warp past wave 9, although you can change that setting so as to be able to warp ahead as frequently as you like. If you fly into the stargate backwards, you won't warp. . Stargate Trick: If a humanoid is being picked up by a lander, simply fly into the stargate and you'll be warped to the humanoid's location. . Humanoid End Wave Trick: If you kill off all the enemies in a level and drop off a humanoid BEFORE the score totals appear, you'll get a flashing screen and a 2000 point bonus. However, you'll only have a few moments to drop off the humanoid before the wave ends. ->Gauntlet: If you stand still for 30 seconds, all the doors in the level will open up. If you stand still for even longer, all the walls will turn into exits. . Teleporter Control: The star pattern in the middle of a teleporter will fade in and out. The brighter the star when you enter the teleporter, the closer to the top of the game screen you will appear. . Score Multipliers: When playing a multiplayer game, collecting treasure will raise your score multiplier AND lower the score multipliers of all the other players. . Death Score: Killing death with a potion will yield just 1,000 points. However, shooting him will change the point value he is worth. The cycle is 1000, 2000, 1000, 4000, 1000, 6000, 1000, 8000. Thus, you are best off if you shoot Death seven times before you kill him with a potion. ->Klax: In waves 6 and 11, making a large X klax will warp you ahead 45 waves. =>Marble Madness: In a two player game, finish a maze first gives you a five second bonus. You can make a one player game a little easier by starting a two player game and ignoring player number two; as long as the second marble stays in the game, you'll get an extra five seconds for every maze you beat. . Extra Time: In the Silly Level Nursery, there is a baby enemy which you can flatten. You'll get three extra seconds for every one you smash. ->Smash T.V.: If you manage to collect 10 keys or more throughout the course of the game, you'll be granted access to the Pleasure Dome somewhat near the end of the game. The Pleasure Dome is filled with girls worth lots of bonus points. ->Toobin': If you collect all the letter strewn throughout the game, you will be rewarded with a contest entry information screen. The t-shirt offer is no longer valid, though. . Score Multipliers: If you pass through a gate before any other racer, and without touching the gate posts, your score multiplier will increase by one -- up to a max of 5x. ->Vindicators: If the Vindicators Options menu has the T-Shirt Contest option enabled, midway through the game you will find yourself in the Contest Zone. Defeat the Contest Zone boss then search the area after him to find a rather large Contest Star. If you get the Contest Star -and- have 9 normal stars, finish the level and you'll be able to use them to buy access to a hidden 30 second contest level; beat the level and you'll get a special victory screen and a password which (several years ago) was meant to be sent in to Atari for a chance to win a t-shirt. You will also be able to try the special 30 second contest level after beating the game.
