->Endings: Depending on how much time it takes you to complete the game, you
will see a different ending when you finish it.
* Less than 1 hour: Samus appears in a bikini. (Easiest when playing the
second quest.)
* 1-3 hours: Samus appears in a leotard.
* 3-5 hours: Samus removes her helmet.
* 5+ Hours: Samus appears in full armor.
* 5+ Hours while playing in Leotard: Samus turns her back to you.
=>Second Quest: After finishing the game, press [START] to replay the game
with all power-ups you earned in the prior title (although you will need to
recollect the missiles and energy tanks).
* Leotard Samus: If you earned the "Samus in a Leotard" ending by beating
the game in less than 3 hours, Samus will appear clad only in a leotard
while you replay the game.
=>Quit Game: Press CNTRL I: [START] to pause the game, and while it is paused,
hold CNTRL II: U+A, and you will jump to the PASSWORD screen, where you can
copy down your password.
=>Jumping Tricks: Samus is able to jump whenever the game "thinks" she is
standing on the ground. It's possible to use this to your advantage.
* Bomb Jump: Drop a bomb and then stand up before the bomb explodes, but
make sure not to move Samus right or left. The explosion from the bomb
will send Samus into the air - and you will be able to jump while in the
air, after the explosion.
* Midair Hop: Curl into a ball and roll of an edge. While falling, tap U
to stand. You'll be able to jump even as you fall through the air!
=>Wall Climbing: Shoot a blue door to open it up, then stand inside of it and
repeatedly jump so that the door shuts on you, locking you inside while you
while you above the ground.
Once you're stuck in the door, repeatedly tap U D U D and Samus will
slowly begin to inch up the wall as she curls into a ball, stands up, then
resumes ball form. Once you get near the top of the screen, repeatedly jump
jump to scroll the screen upwards, then resume tapping U D.
Using the "Wall Climb" in certain areas can lead you to 'hidden worlds.'
* In Hideout II - Ridley's place - there is a small, single-screen room
with an invisible hole and an energy tank. Jump to the left side of the
screen, then do the Wall Climb in the left door, facing right.
* In Hideout II, after getting off the elevator, go right and continue
right until you reach a vertical shaft. Do the Wall Climb here.
NOTE: This 'hidden world' aspect of the game has been open to great debate
and concern. People have searched long and hard for meaning to these rooms
and the specific entrance points. If you really want it, I (David) have a
text file dealing with these 'worlds' which I will e-mail to you if you
request it... unless, of course, you are reading this book 4 years after
I wrote it & abandoned it ... in which case, good luck! Stuff on the Net
never really disappears (like this code book, for example), so you might
still be able to find the info.
